From the Target Free Thursdays webpage:

Honoring Independence Day, this intimate concert celebrates the nostalgic USO sound in the small band style of the late, great Benny Goodman.  The chemistry and creativity of Dan Levinson, Mark Shane, Matt Hoffman, Kevin Dorn, and Molly Ryan bring 1930’s America to life.

In 1935, clarinetist/bandleader Benny Goodman began performing and recording with a trio consisting of Teddy Wilson on piano and Gene Krupa on drums.  The following year he added Lionel Hampton on vibraphone, creating a spectacular new sound that has become a touchstone for small group jazz.  Each member of Dan Levinson's Palomar Quartet has been inspired by his parallel counterpart in Goodman's group, resulting in a magical chemistry replete with creativity and excitement.  The fluid tone of Levinson's soaring clarinet, the brilliant, Wilsonesque flourishes of pianist Mark Shane, the virtuosic mallet work of 25-year-old vibes prodigy Matt Hoffmann, and the hard-driving intensity of drummer Kevin Dorn blend with the classy, elegant vocal stylings of Molly Ryan in a musical skillet that simmers and sizzles with every beat.
